Job Description

My client is seeking an experienced Overhead Crane Technician to join their team in Charlotte, North Carolina!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of overhead cranes and hoists according to manufacturer guidelines and OSHA standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on crane equipment.
  • Conduct load tests and ensure proper calibration and alignment of crane components.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and modify crane systems as required.
  • Respond to service calls and provide on-site support to resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Complete detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Collaborate with customers and team members to provide technical support and ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and adherence to Crane South’s safety protocols.

The position requires 8 to 12-hour shift work, which can include Saturdays and Sundays as well as 24/7 availability, depending on customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year working as an Overhead Crane Technician.
  • Due to the specialized nature of this work, only applicants who have previously performed this job are being considered.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with control systems, including PLCs and VFDs (preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Certifications:

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • NCCCO certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfortable working at heights and in varying environmental conditions.
