Position Summary:

This Purchaser coordinates the procurement of materials and services to ensure the company is positioned to deliver quality products and services. The role is a key member of the operations team and is responsible for delivering results as it relates to sourcing, cost controls, negotiations, vendor relationship management, vendor qualification, and inventory management. The role interacts with all departments in the organization and is highly engaged with the owners and company leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review requisitions, solicit bid proposals, prepare purchase orders for goods and services.
  • Monitor and expedite orders as necessary.
  • Inspect Shipments for quality and completeness.
  • Work with others to gather receiving and packing slips and verify complete and accurate shipments.
  • Authorize payment for purchases by correctly processing receiving documentation in a timely manner.
  • Build new relationships, and maintain existing relationships with suppliers and subs.
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules, and quality.
  • Obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items.
  • Evaluate bids and make purchasing recommendations.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers, vendors, and subs.
  • Coordinate and manage deposits for sub-contractors and outsourced work.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize purchasing data and trends.
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activity.
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products to meet business needs, while keeping a constant check on stock levels.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Solid organizational skills; able to multi-task and complete requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 Suite of tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Smart Sheets, and ERP.
  • Commitment to Excellence. Attention to Detail. Pride in Workmanship.
  • Ability to make decisions and solve practical problems with a variety of variables in situations. where standardization may be limited.
  • Ability to cope with pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resourceful; can devise creative solutions to problems.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Purchasing and/or Supply Chain. Experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
