Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs based on construction documents.
- Input and organize data in estimating software for accurate pricing.
- Provide initial data entry for software and coordinate with the Contracts Department to determine insurance and compliance requirements.
- Submit new contracts for corporate legal review.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to assess capabilities and scope alignment.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure best value and alignment with project goals.
- Lead efforts to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Assemble final pricing using bid form formats and project requirements.
- Establish baseline job duration and identify project-specific equipment needs.
- Integrate selected vendors/subcontractors into the bid.
- Prepare bid forms, proposal letters, and qualification statements tailored to the client.
- Research historical data to enhance productivity, explore alternative methods, and apply value engineering concepts.
- Include standard proposal conditions, payment milestone language, and retention clauses to protect project cash flow.
- Submit complete and accurate proposals by required deadlines, with coordination from the Operations team for labor and scheduling input.
- Personally follow up with clients to confirm bid receipt and gain feedback.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients for current and future opportunities.
- Track and analyze outcomes of submitted bids and compile data on lost opportunities to assess market trends.
- Track project status and notify Chief Estimator or Estimating Manager upon award.
- Schedule and lead handoff meetings with the Project Manager and team.
- Provide all relevant pricing documents, quotes, and proposal materials for project setup.
- Prepare preliminary job schedule including cash flow projections and manpower forecasts.
- Communicate key commitments made to clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Assist with project planning, identify operational alternatives, and review General Contractor/client expectations with field teams.
- Assist with pricing of changes and ensuring timely submission for approval.
- Support the project team in achieving submittal approvals within 60 days.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Accounting, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant estimating experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with estimating software such as Timberline, UScost, or WinEst.
